Sexy World, Sexy People - My 2-cent worth
Violent riots in France! Terrorists bombing in Bali! Muslim terrorists killed in Batu, Indonesia! Al Queda's warnings of more bombings, ...
These are headlines that we have been reading in the daily newspapers for the past few months, after 9/11. What is happening around us? Are we heading toward ... I dread to ponder further.
Aren't we the children of our primitive ancestor, Homo Sapien? Why?
My 2-cent worth:
To live in a globalised world, we need harmony and peaceful co-existence. Some level of tolerance and knowledge about others - in other words, mix around and know your neighbours.. - are essential ingredients to peace and harmony. This would also dispel our suspicions of others. If we harbour suspicious thoughts of others, then more likely than not, self-fulfilling prosphesy will come true - it's our resulting action that 'force' the other party to react the same. Ultimately, I believe that one should treat others fairly and equally, regardless of race, language or religion. Respect for each other is another key ingredient in dealing and interaction with people.
If everyone is treated fairly and given equal opportunities, I cannot understand when:
* the underclass in france revolts and burns properties;
* people are drawn into terrorist's cells and resorted to violence;
* People regardless of race and religion living as neighbours start to mistrust each other;
and so on and so forth...
I may understand if there are unfair treatment and inequalities. Over long period of time, violence and revolt could erupt easily, usually started and ignited by a seemingly minor incident.
The world will be a better place :
When in school, we respect the school authority and our peers for fair and equal treatment;
When working, we respect our bosses and colleagues, and we are given fair treatment and equal opportunities;
At home, we respect the elders whilst the elders shower their love equally;
People respect each other regardless of race, language or religion;
Nations respect one another regardless of size, status, power, political system, and resolve conflict through interaction and peaceful negotiation
Other behaviour and attitude are equally important. However, without fairness and equal treatment, where do we start from here?
Wow! so cheem, man! Is it me? Dun play, play..Ah Adieu!
